Château de Lescours

History & Background

Chateau de Lescours was originally built in 1341 by a squire of King Edward III. Today the estate is stewarded by the Chariol family.  The 18-acre estate is surrounded by a deep moat and set in the midst of a 100-acre forest, creating a unique microclimate. Boasting around 45,000 bottles a year with 2 labels, ‘Château de Lescours’ and ‘L de Lescours’ (2 to 3,000 bottles a year), the château serves as a succesful and charming bed and breakfast, with two peacocks, chickens, ponds, clearings and labyrinths, “a little nature reserve”. A hideen gem in the Saint Emilion town, that is well loved in the wine tourism community.

As far of their craft, their HVE (High Environmental Value) certification highlights a commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Owner Monsieur Pierre Chariol is a passionate naturalist; he leans on the traditional grapes of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to create classic Grand Cru Bordeaux blends. The harmony of this synergistic blend brings a consistent balance of power, finesse, and concentration.
